The "Diva Radical" Lives

I am so excited to share how my alien dreams came to life once again! A couple months ago, I came across a piece of art, via Twitter, by an artist named Lewy V. I was captivated by the expression of the lady, the shapes in her face, and her afro...everything was *chefs kiss*. After revisiting the piece, I thought, "I'm going to recreate it!” On Amazon, I purchased the red glasses and the blue body paint; luckily, I already had the perfect set of yellow earrings. To make my skin blue, I used Mehron Makeup Fantasy, which is the same brand I used for the "Alien, but Make it Fashion" photo shoot. I wanted to be sure to document my process so I recorded everything this time around.

Since I was literally recreating a piece of art, I tried my best to imitate every small detail. I mixed the paints in order to create more dimension, shadows and highlights. That was the trickiest part, but I love how it forced me to be creative and to problem solve in certain areas. Overall, this was so much fun! I'm definitely going to incorporate more body paint in my photoshoots; at this point, I'm obsessed! Check out my recreation, the reference and the original inspiration behind the piece.
